What does it mean? "Real-time" is a heavily used (possibly over used) term in our modern vernacular. We see claims like "real-time data" or "information in real-time"; however, there is generally no explanation of what real-time means in the context of the claim. Iris Connection is no exception: We too make claims about "real-time steaming data" in the Watchman's vPanelTM. In this article, we'll attempt to define the meaning of real-time...

"The year is 1962. A young man in his early twenties, newly discharged from military service, drifts into a job with a one-man drilling operation. He has no experience in the industry, but he learns as he goes. One month later, the boss's heart problems force him into early retirement, and the apprentice, still wet behind the ears, agrees to buy him out." - Tamara Moore, Water Well Journal, August 1995

The GWR applies to more than 150,000 public water systems serving more than 100 million customers in the United States. The rule was originally proposed by the EPA in May of 2000, signed into Law in October, 2006 and took effect on January 8, 2007.

Data Logging, System history in the click of a button.
Public Water systems are not as simple as they once were. They are a dynamic structure. They are constantly changing and adjusting.
With the Watchman System the water manager can access not only “real time” information about the system, but can view data in detail over the history of the water system once a Watchman System is installed.

This article provides a simple explanation of the well drilling process. Outside the well industry, most people are more familiar with a dentist's drill than with well drilling. A water well is a lot more than a drilled hole, but for many people, the above ground part of the drilling process is the only part they see. A water well is a specially engineered hole in the ground; perhaps a dental root canal may be considered a specially engineered hole in a tooth?

Entrepreneurs Jack Coots and Norm Nielsen of Chico love to tell the beach story -- about their first customer sitting on a Hawaiian beach and being able to do everything he needed to monitor his neighborhood's water system. The customer was Butte Creek Estates Service Co. of Chico, and president Deane Johnson was the one in Hawaii.

It was a huge 10 minutes for Jack Coots and Norm Nielsen on Thursday. Within that bite of time, Coots had two goals: first to intrigue with a PowerPoint presentation, then to hope someone's curiosity was aroused to make a connection.
He hoped to impress just one in a handful of people, although several hundred stared intently at him in the Big Room of Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Two would be fantastic.

Most water districts’ pump sites are powered by electricity from a local utility. The WatchMan helps the water district protect its critical equipment from damage caused by poor quality power that is supplied by the utility. In addition to monitoring the typical water delivery related parameters, such as pressure, flow rate, holding tank water level, etc., a standard WatchMan installation also monitors the quality of the electrical power provided by the utility at each pump site.

Public drinking water systems are federally regulated by the EPA. States and tribes, provide drinking water to 90 percent of all Americans. These public drinking water systems, which may be publicly- or privately-owned, serve at least 25 people or 15 service connections for at least 60 days per year. Through the Public Water System Supervision (PWSS) program, EPA implements and enforces drinking water standards to protect public health. ...
