Help is on the way.

•    When we opened the fire hydrant only a trickle of water came out.

•    The chlorine levels were so low that they were just detectable.

•    The whole system shut down and there is no back up.

•    The rumor is the water is contaminated.  We don’t drink it.

•    This is a second warning from DHS and we better not ignore it.

Does your board of directors understand its responsibilities?  It is astounding about how many do not.

But help on the way.  Iris dealer, Durham Pump, offers at no cost, an assessment of your Water System.  It is a comprehensive evaluation covering the roles and responsibilities of the owners (board of directors) as well as the systems operator. The evaluation also includes a review of record keeping rules as required by the EPA, how assets are managed, compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act as well as the condition and maintenance of the water delivery system.

The purpose is to inform the board of directors and their constituents about the current condition of their entire water distribution system, helping them to understand what is required to meet government regulations, prevent serious downtime and plan for the future.  Once the assessment is completed the board will have a clear understanding of the current state of their district and recommendations for improvement wherever they are required.

Durham Pump’s account manager says; “We hope there will be a considerable number of districts that take advantage of this opportunity because so many are out of compliance and could use some help.  We feel it is only a matter of time until we hear about another regrettable incident.”  A favorable response to Durham Pump’s assessment could go along way toward elevating their critical situation.
